Tips for getting started as a new SlideRoom Reviewer

Welcome to SlideRoom! We've put together a guide to help make the application review process as simple as possible.

Goals of this guide

  Create your reviewer account

  Access the reviewer portal

  Understand the dashboard

  Evaluate applications

  Review prior applications

Create your reviewer account

The first step to becoming a reviewer in SlideRoom is activating your account. When an adminsistrator creates you as a reviewer in the system, an email will be sent to you with a link inviting you to log in. The email will look like this:

Click the link in the email to be taken to a page where you can create and verify your password. Then click the Back To Sign In link.

Access the reviewer portal

Every institution's SlideRoom account has its own unique applicant portal. However, reviewers and administrators do not use their institution's applicant portal; rather, they log in via review.slideroom.com. If you try to log in via the applicant portal, you'll see an error message that looks like this, because you don't have an applicant account:

But don't worry! All you have to do head over to review.slideroom.com. Once you log in, you will be taken to your reviewer dashboard.

Understand the dashboard

The reviewer dashboard gives you a high-level overview of all the applications you have been assigned, applications you have reviewed, and applications you have yet to review. The dashboard looks like this:

Along the top, you'll see the navigation bar, with the institution whose applications you are evaluating in the top left corner. If you are evaluating applications for more than one institution, you can switch between them by clicking the institution name and then choosing another from the drop-down menu.

Below the navigation bar is a header that shows your progress in evaluating the applications and programs assigned to you. A blue button that says Continue Evaluating will take you to the applications you have left to review:

Just below the header, you can see your total number of applications, the number of comments you have made, and the number of applications you have looked at so far:

At the bottom of the dashboard, you will find lists of the Programs, Applicants, and Saved Views to which you have been given access:

Evaluate applications

To begin reviewing applications, click the blue button that reads Continue Evaluating.

You can also click on the Applicants link at the top of your navigation bar, which will take you to the applicants grid. The applicants grid shows you a list of applications which you have been assigned to review:

Clicking on any of these applicants will take you to their application:

At the top of the screen, you'll see the applicant's name as well as the different sections of their application: Media, Forms, and References.  Clicking on any section title will take you to that part of the application:

You can also view each of these sections of the application by simply scrolling down the page.

Get a closer look at any item in the portfolio by clicking on it to reveal a full-screen view:

You can highlight or comment on any individual item by clicking the icons in the top corner:

You can highlight or comment on Form questions by hovering your mouse over the question and making your selection from the drop-down menu that appears on the left-hand side:

To see more information about the applicant, click the information (i) icon at the top of the right-hand sidebar. There you will see contact information, demographic data, and the applicant's current rank in the applicant pool, if the institution has chosen to reveal that information to reviewers. You can also view other reviewers' evaluations and comments, if the institution has permitted it:

When you are ready to score and comment on the application, you will find everything you need by clicking the star icon at the top of the right-hand sidebar (when you click on any application, you will see this panel by default). There you can score the application according to criteria determined by program administrators. You can also leave a comment explaining your score at the bottom of the panel:

Your progress is saved automatically in SlideRoom, so you do not have to worry about losing your work if your internet connection is interrupted or you have a computer issue.

When you're done, click the Submit Evaluation button at the top of the screen to register your evaluation. To leave a comment on the application as a whole, click the word bubble at the top of the sidebar and begin writing in the text box. Click Submit when complete:

On the left side of the screen is a menu bar that allows you to move from applicant to applicant without returning to the applicant grid. There is also a search bar at the top in case you need to find a particular application:

Review your prior evaluations

In some cases, you may want to see or edit a score you've provided already. To do so, just click the Applicants tab at the top of the screen when you first log in. This will show you all submissions assigned to you whether you've scored them or not. You can easily tell if you've scored a submission by looking at the "My" column which lists the score you provided.

To edit a score, click on the submission you previously evaluated, and from the evaluations tab, you can adjust your score in the same way you first entered it.

If you have any questions about reviewing applicants or accessing your reviewer account, you may contact SlideRoom Client Support at any time.
